15 Things Mentally-Strong People Never Do




The strongest people on earth are not the physically- strong, but the mentally strong people. They have such a great positive mental attitude that enables them to keep moving even when there are supposedly clear reasons why they should go back. They believe that ‘tough times never last, but tough people do’, in the words of Dr Robert Schuller.

Meanwhile, as against a popular opinion, these set of great minds are known for what they do not practice, rather than what they practice. For them, there are 15 of those things they never practise. Let’s go:

1. Waste time feeling sorry for themselves: That is the last thing they do-self pity. They posses such a strong positive attitude that they believe that ‘even though you fall, you will rise again; though you’re sick, you shall be healed; though you’re rejected and jeered today, you shall be accepted and cheered tomorrow; though you were poor, you shall become rich; though you were nearly a dead man, after all, you shall live again: for after all these Job lived’ (Brochisabez). To them, all is well; the future is secured.


2.     2.Give away power: The mentally-strong people never surrender their power in any compromised or coaxed deal. They do not sacrifice the brighter tomorrow on the altar of a ‘begging’ today. They never surrender power either to friends or foes, forces or fantasies. They understand the importance of holding on.


3.     3.Shy away from necessary change: They are not the overtly rigid-principled and conventional-minded persons who loath change like leprosy. They understand when change is necessary, and follow the path of least resistance to make those necessary changes in their lives and situations. To them, the world is changing, why not you?

4.     4.Waste energy on things they cannot control: Mentally-strong people never employ their brain and mind power on self-destructive activities like worry and anxiety over situations they could not control. They are rather creative; thinking of the best solutions to solve their problems and that of others, where need be.


5.     5.Worry about pleasing others: Never! They are not popular-opinionated persons, who go about looking for a pat on the back from every body. They take a step; make a decision they feel is right and necessary at any point in time, without minding whose ox is gored.

6.     6.Fear taking calculated risks: The jelly fish risk- averse fellows of this world would never take a risk, in spite of its potential returns. But that is not the mentally strong people. They understand that life itself is risk, and so takes the bull by the horn whenever such opportunity comes up to take a returnable risks. And even if the game turns bad, they beat their chest and forge ahead; not crying over spilled milk, hoping tomorrow would be a good day. They have learnt the lesson on how best to do it, and that’s enough.


7.     7.Dwell on the past: The mentally-strong persons are progressive-minded people. They never dwell on the past, especially the ugly past of failures and adversity. They find it difficult keeping an archive of past events, as they feel that it portrays a backward mentality.

8.     8.Make the same mistake repeatedly: While they may have fallen over and over again, mentally-strong people easily learn from their mistakes and move on to correct it. They don’t back out from trying new things even in areas they’ve fallen before, but be sure they won’t repeat their mistakes. That is what makes them champions- never quit, learn!


9.    9.Give up after initial failure: Champions never do either. To these great minds, failure is not final. To them, stumbling block is a stepping stone to success. Hence, they neither fear failure nor the tendency of failing again. They learn as they fail, until they perfect.

110. Resent other people’s success: Mentally-strong people have no inferiority complex. They believe that they are embodiments of greatness, ready to explode. Hence, there is no room for resenting others’ success, or being jealous over it. They respect others and appreciate what they have achieved too.


111. Fear ‘alone time’: ‘Alone time’ is the time when friends and families seem to desert us, leaving us to carry our crosses alone. It is at such a time, many poor-minded fellows usually begin to have resentment against God and man, and at worst, contemplate suicide with a line of ‘nobody cares for me; I’m gone’! But the mentally-strong persons at such a time, gets stronger. For them, it is a season of preparation for greatness- it does not scare them.

112.Feel the world owe them anything: They never feel that way. They believe in self effort. They believe we all need to make contributions to our society general wellbeing. When those who are supposedly in position of helping them, fails in that responsibility, they don’t show aggression or malice over that. They easily acknowledge that the neighbour next door does not actually owe them anything. They put more of their confidence and hope in God.


113.Keep unforgiving spirit: The mentally strong people are so matured in mind as to understand the principle of releasing others to release one. They easily forgive and forbear offenders, not just for the sake of the offender, but for their own sakes, so that they can move on without distractions.

114.Feel insecure over a perceived rival: Inferior men are not secured. They are even afraid of their shadows, let alone a perceived rival. Then in other to keep what they feel belong to them, they seek for ways to run others down as well as cut them down. This is what the mentally strong people never do. To them, life is not a competition, but a community where every person is expected to contribute his own quota for general well-being. So what is the fuss about others’ achievement!


115.Expect immediate results: The mentally strong people believe in hardwork and legitimate means of earning a living. They never go for compromised short cuts to achieve immediate success that might taste bitter tomorrow. They understand that it takes quality time and commitment to achieve true success. They focus in achieving an enduring result that guarantees a bright and beautiful future for themselves and others. They are not in a hurry to get up there, being assured they would definitely get them.

10 Cold Calling Tips for Effective Telemarketing

We may want to start by helping you understand the concept behind cold calling. In simple terms, cold calling is the art of calling somebody who is not expecting your call. In today’s business world, it has become an integral part of business model, especially as it relates to marketing. In, fact some companies relies solely on cold calling to get their products and services across to potential clients. It is simply telemarketing in action- that is making contacts with potential customers over the phone line. And bearing in mind the intricacies involved in the proper use of telephone, especially the beyond-the-border kind, it dawns on us that, cold calling if not handled well and in a professional manner, can have a damaging effect to the image of the company, resulting to loss of potential customers. Hence, to gain the best out of telemarketing, every sales person must know as well as apply the following cold calling tips: 1. Prepare before Hand: As a sales person trying to engage potential customers over the phone line, your first weapon of conquest should be thorough preparation; otherwise, you’ve already prepared to fail. How do you prepare? Know and figure out what you want to achieve from a call and note it down, with possible questions you expect from your prospect. Experience and intuition helps you to be accurate in this area. Having captured these, rehearse them so as to internalize them before engaging your prospect. Never try to read from your script. Besides, you would need a plan ‘B’ should your initial approach fails to work. 2. Set Realistic Goals: if you’re new to telemarketing, the best advice for you is to start small and work up from there. Never engage the whole day cold calling on potential clients. With as little as 5 calls a day, you are doing great as a starter. As you learn the rope, you can then move to a higher scale. 3. Talk Slowly, Clearly, but Confidently: Mind you, stage freight is not limited to physical presentation before an audience, in telemarketing, you can face that too. Usually, with a high quest to convince your potential client, there is always this tendency to speak so fast, to get all the information over as quick as possible. When you do that, you lose confidence, and be sure the man over the other end will definitely notice that. And of he hangs it on you. You’ve lost him! 4. Listen to your Potential Client: This is probably the most important, but the least often used tip by many telemarketers. You have to understand that people generally hate being talked at. Give your potential client time to express himself. In fact, you can get more by just listening to him/her, as that might help you understand his/her preferences, prejudice and general value system- great information you really need to scale through successfully. 5. Talk to the Right Person: Don’t waste your whole day calling the wrong persons- in this case, those who are not in position of making decision on an offer. The moment you initiate a call, one thing you should always do without wasting time is to verify if you’re really speaking to the right person- that is the ultimate decision maker. Quickly ask if there is someone else they recommend you to talk with, or else reschedule the call.
6. Use Open Question: By employing the use of words like What? When? Where? Who? Etc, you come up with relevant questions to get your prospective client talking and participating in the conversation, thereby making it possible for you to speak more confidently. 7. Smile and be Cheerful: Remember miserable and awkward feeling can show through your voice, the same goes for a great and cheerful feeling. And you have to know that it is not just what you say that get you sales, but how you say it. It is quite obvious nobody wants to buy from a miserable fellow. So be cheerful and smile while prospecting. 8. Don’t Argue: Be sure to meet some hard people as prospective clients. However, you don’t need to be scared about their harsh approach to your offer. The only thing you should avoid is argument. Remember to go with the mentality that customers are always right, even when they are not. Remain calm and polite amidst tense situation. If you’re constantly coming up against a brick wall, think of different ways to obtain the information you need. 9. Don’t Take it Personal: Remember you’re just a sales person representing a company. So, don’t overtly react to harsh treatment from your prospective client as if you’re desperate to tie him down to your offer. If a call goes bad, the person on the other end of the phone may simply be having a bad day. Losing him today may not be the end of the road; you can win him over tomorrow. 10. Try to always get something out of a Call: You’re not engaged in cold calling to practice ‘trial and error’. Make sure that at the end of the day, you get something out of every call you put across. For instance, if the ultimate aim is to get a face to face meeting with your prospective client, make sure you have a secondary objective, should the primary objective fails to realize. Example could be sending out information and getting commitment to call and follow up, or simply getting an email address.

But oftentimes, many have joined SFI without knowing what to do, as they do not understand how it works. Meanwhile, for new affiliates, doing well in your first month is as easy as ABC. This is because SFI makes it easy for new Affiliates to claim free versapoints by simply performing easy actions. This is meant to encourage the newcomer. The moment you register with SFI, you will notice a rectangular enclosed ‘GO’ button, just click on it. After that, you will see ‘Proceed to Affiliate Centre’ at the top right of your page, click on it. What do you see? Your Affiliate Page where you will see the following: a. From your top left: ‘You are currently … below the green line(What this means is that in your class, your score is, by the number indicated, less than the average points scored by your class members. Your class here are all affiliates who registered with SFI the same date as you did, from all over the world. What happens here is that the moment you joined SFI, YOU are automatically included in a 30-day contest involving all your class members. This 30-day contest is divided into 5 rounds of six days each round. Let’s have this as an instance- you register on August 20, 2013- in this case, the first round ends August 26, the same day you cross to second round of the contest. Now, you can only qualify to cross over if at the last day of that round, in this case, August 26, you have scored enough versapoints that is greater than the class average-what is meant by being above the green line. And for every new round you go into, you win a price as follows: i. to round two, 25MRP; ii. To round three, 50MRP; iii. To round four, 100vp; iv. To round five, 200vp; v. to final round, 300vp. Those are specific prizes, beside which you can still win other prizes from round three. But for a starter, you cannot claim the a2a tab and goal tab until you upload your pix, complete both your profile and general info. How do you claim the points on these tabs each day? Just click on the tab, and when the page opens, scroll towards the bottom of the page, and you will see ‘I have reviewed the information on this page’ enclosed in a blue rectangular box, click on that box and you claim the point. Meanwhile for goal tab, you claim it by writing inside the open box. d. To-do-list: As a starter, TO-DO-LIST tab is very much important to you than all these other tabs. This is because outside claiming the 1 vp on it, you will find here, many free points to claim-that’s why it is called ‘to-do-list’. Every thing is written in a well explained grammar, take time and read to understand how to claim the free points. But let me help you a little: The first batch of the points to claim is tagged, ‘Getting Started Points’. Here you will see things like, Confirm your registration, Like on Facebook, Follow SFI on Twitter, Complete your Profile, etc. you will notice a number attached to each of these. What it means is that, the moment you perform the action, you claim the attached point. Make sure you scroll down to the end of the page. You will notice there are daily points, weekly points, monthly points, leadersip points, sales/purchases on tripleclicks points, intermediate points, etc. Read very well and claim as many as you qualified for. MEANWHILE, in all these points, you will notice many of the items (usually under Getting Started and Intermediate Columns) having the * sign by the side.
